Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60ml) whiskey (bourbon or rye)
  • 3/4 oz (22ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz (15ml) simple syrup (or honey syrup)
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 egg white (optional, for a frothy top)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters (optional, for depth of flavor)
  • Maraschino cherry & lemon slice (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Shake (without ice): If using egg white, add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds (this helps create foam).
  2. Shake again (with ice): Add ice cubes, then shake again for 15 more seconds until well chilled.
  3. Strain & Serve: Strain into a rocks glass over ice or serve straight up in a coupe glass.
  4. Garnish & Enjoy: Add a maraschino cherry and a lemon slice for a classic finish. If using bitters, drop them onto the foam and swirl lightly.

Serving Suggestions & Variations:

  • Make it a Gold Rush by using honey syrup instead of simple syrup.
