Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or liqueur, like Grand Marnier or Baileys)
For Coating (Choose Your Favorites):
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, or pecans)
  • Shredded coconut
  • Melted chocolate for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the warm cream over the chocolate and let sit for 2 minutes.
  3. Mix Until Smooth: Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Add butter and vanilla extract, mixing until incorporated.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is firm enough to scoop.
  5. Shape the Truffles: Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll into bite-sized balls with your hands.
  6. Coat the Truffles: Roll each truffle in cocoa powder, nuts, coconut, or dip in melted chocolate for variety.
  7. Chill Again (Optional): Place coated truffles on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for another 30 minutes to firm up.

Serving Suggestions & Variations:

  • For extra richness, add a splash of rum, whiskey, or flavored liqueur.
